The Karate competitions shall be organised in accordance with the current World Karate Federation (WKF) rules. In case of disagreement in the interpretation of these rules, the English text shall be regarded as authoritative.
The programme and duration of competitions are fixed by the FISU Executive Committee in agreement with the Organising Committee and the CTI. The competitions shall last four (4) days and include:
Ⅰ. Individual events:
Men: bouts duration: three (3) minutes
-60kg, -67 kg, -75 kg, -84 kg, +84 kg
Women: bouts duration: two (2) minutes
-50kg, -55kg, -61kg, -68kg, +68kg
Each country is authorised to enter a maximum of one (1) competitor in each weight category.
Ⅱ. Team events
Men: a team comprises seven (7) members with five (5) competing in a round
Women: a team comprises four (4) members with three (3) competing in a round
*No Video Review is applied.
Men and women:
– Individual events: one (1) competitor
– Team events: three (3) competitors
Each country is authorised to enter a maximum of twenty nine (29) competitors (sixteen (16) men and thirteen (13) women) and five (5) officials.
The team events shall take place after the individual events.
Each athlete and coach must be able to provide evidence of WKF membership.
At the first General Technical Meeting, the Head of Delegation or his/her representative shall confirm and sign the official list of competitors accredited by the CIC.
Three (3) months before the Championship, the Organising Committee has the right to collect 25% of the total cost of stay per athlete and official from participating countries.
The OC shall conduct the draw directly after the official registration in the presence of the FISU Technical Delegate (or his/her representative). Each completed master sheet shall be signed by the Technical Delegate.
The draw shall be carried out using the WKF-approved computerised random process, with the exception that the corresponding finalists of the previous Championships are separated as widely as possible.
Entries for the draw shall come from the FISU online registration system.
After the draw is completed and signed by the FISU Technical Delegate, it shall be made available for each participating country.
1 Nomination and cost
International Technical Officials shall be appointed jointly by WKF and FISU. The participating delegations shall bear their costs of travel, board and lodging in proportion to the number of athletes registered (from two (2) days before the opening ceremony to one (1) day after the closing ceremony).
Other costs are referenced in the FISU – WKF partnership agreement.
The Organising Committee shall announce the exact sum shortly after the closing date for nominative entries (one (1) month before the beginning of the World University Championship).
2 Number of technical officials needed
A minimum of 24 ITOs shall be appointed.
